Sustainable Agriculture and Farmer Livelihoods

Cargill is a global leader in agricultural supply chain management and food production, committed to providing food, ingredients, and agricultural solutions to nourish the world in a safe, responsible, and sustainable way.

On average, 70% of global water usage is associated with agriculture. Cargill recognizes the importance of sustainable agriculture and improving farmers’ livelihoods as they strive to meet the world’s growing food needs. Cargill’s goal is to help farmers increase their productivity while minimizing the environmental impact of their operations.

Our partnership is a leading example of Cargill’s efforts to create positive impact in this area. Together, we are implementing a comprehensive water management program that focuses upon smallholder farmers in vulnerable communities.

By providing training and technical assistance, Cargill Currents empowers farmers to adopt water-saving techniques, such as drip irrigation and conservation agriculture.

Additionally, the partnership works with local governments to develop and implement policies that support water conservation and efficiency. Cargill Currents improves the livelihoods of thousands of farmers, while also reducing the pressure on local water resources and promoting a more sustainable food system.

By investing in water stewardship and improving agricultural practices, the program supports the growth of local economies and also contributes to more resilient and sustainable food systems for generations to come.
