Message from Cargill

At Cargill, we believe in the power of partnerships to drive meaningful and scalable impact. Through our collaboration with Global Water Challenge, we are addressing critical water challenges around the world. Together, we are building resilient and sustainable ecosystems for communities and nature.

As we work to feed the world’s growing population, ensuring access to clean water is crucial. Water is fundamental to agriculture and food production. By improving water access, we are supporting farmers and enhancing food security.

Our joint efforts are creating tangible benefits for communities and helping to strengthen our global food system.

We define a water positive impact as effectively improving watershed health by addressing the shared water challenges of availability, quality, and access, using an approach that is informed by our footprint and the severity of local water challenges. This approach helps ensure that watersheds are better off because of Cargill’s involvement.

Our approach goes well beyond our own operational footprint – it extends to the communities where we operate as well as where we can have the greatest impact: our agricultural supply chains.

This approach guides how we bring together stakeholders, including farmers, ranchers, NGOs and customers to create solutions to local water availability, quality and access challenges. In doing so, we prioritize efforts that provide multiple benefits for both people and the planet.

Because of our position as a connector of the food system, Cargill has the unique ability to develop holistic water solutions that drive impact-at-scale.

That’s why we’ve set a global ambition to enable a water positive impact across our operations, supply chains and communities by 2030. Addressing water challenges requires industry collaboration and action to build solutions, and partnering with organizations like Global Water Challenge is just one way that we are working to strengthen local water systems around the world.

We celebrate our partnership with Global Water Challenge and the many communities that have been positively impacted across five continents.

We want to acknowledge the vital role that Global Water Challenge plays in the successful management, collaborative approach, and delivery of this program. We also thank all our community, NGO and government partners for their support, dedication, and efforts to achieve a common goal of building thriving communities and ecosystems.

Through our collaborative efforts, we will continue to drive sustainable change in communities where it is needed most.
