Global Water Challenge to Support Launch of an “Africa Water Intelligence Hub” at the 2026 UN Water Conference

New Africa-led water intelligence resource will be introduced during a GWC-organized side event in Abu Dhabi, convened with AMCOW, the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), and The Coca-Cola Company.

Global Water Challenge (GWC) will convene a side event in the accredited “blue” zone of the 2026 UN Water Conference entitled From Data to Delivery: Scaling Water Security in Africa through Intelligence, Nature-Based Solutions, and Collective Action, on Tuesday, December 8, from 15:30 to 16:45. The session is organized with the African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW), the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), and The Coca-Cola Company.

Across Africa, collective action is delivering measurable water security outcomes, but fragmented basin-level data limits how effectively those efforts coordinate and scale. The session will introduce an Africa Water Intelligence Hub (AWIH), a collaborative initiative to strengthen data-driven decision-making, basin-level cooperation, and strategic investment in support of AMCOW’s Africa Water Vision 2063.

Alongside the introduction of this new resource, the session will look at collective action already underway within the Coca-Cola system, including GWC and Coca-Cola’s Africa Water Stewardship Initiative. These examples underscore both the progress being made across the continent and the opportunity for stronger coordination, shared intelligence, and more targeted investment to amplify impact in basins across Africa.

Additional details will be shared in the coming weeks.
